My Personal Thoughts on: 3 Idiots
"3 Idiots" is a heartwarming and thought-provoking film that explores the themes of friendship, education, and societal pressures. The movie revolves around three main characters, each with their own unique struggles and personalities.
I will mainly be using these guide questions to assist me in this paper:
1. Describe the 3 characters in the movie?
2. Whose character would you want to be? Why?
Now, let's get started.
Rancho (Ranchhoddas Shamaldas Chanchad): Rancho, portrayed by Aamir Khan, is a spirited individual who challenges the conventional approach to education. His main problem lies in the rigid education system that emphasizes rote memorization over genuine learning. Rancho solves this by encouraging his friends to question authority, think critically, and pursue knowledge for its intrinsic value. His unconventional methods, such as practical experiments and real-world applications, not only help him excel academically but also inspire his friends to break free from societal expectations and pursue their true passions.
Farhan Qureshi: Farhan, played by R. Madhavan, faces the dilemma of choosing between his passion for wildlife photography and his family's expectations for him to become an engineer. His problem is rooted in the fear of disappointing his parents and the societal pressure to conform to traditional career paths. Farhan overcomes this by finding the courage to confront his parents and express his true desires. With the support of his friends, especially Rancho, Farhan embraces his passion for photography and takes steps towards pursuing his dreams, ultimately finding fulfillment and happiness in his chosen path.
Raju Rastogi: Raju, portrayed by Sharman Joshi, grapples with the burden of supporting his financially struggling family and the fear of failure in academics. His problem stems from the immense pressure to succeed and provide for his loved ones, leading to anxiety and self-doubt. Raju manages to overcome these challenges by realizing that true success cannot be measured solely by academic achievements. Through the guidance and encouragement of his friends, particularly Rancho, Raju learns to believe in himself, confront his fears, and embrace a more balanced approach to life. He discovers that happiness and fulfillment come from within, rather than external validation or material success.
Among the three characters, I would choose to be like Phunsukh Wangdu, also known as Rancho. His character embodies the spirit of curiosity, creativity, and compassion. He is not afraid to challenge conventional wisdom and stands up for what he believes is right. Like Rancho, I aspire to make a positive impact on others' lives and contribute to society in meaningful ways. His dedication to helping others and his unwavering belief in the power of education to bring about change resonate with me deeply. I admire Rancho's ability to think outside the box and his commitment to pursuing his passions, regardless of societal expectations. By embodying his character, I hope to inspire others to follow their dreams and strive for excellence in their own unique way.
In conclusion, "3 Idiots" is a poignant reminder of the importance of pursuing one's passions, challenging societal norms, and valuing true friendship. The characters' journeys serve as a source of inspiration and reflection, prompting viewers to reconsider their own values and priorities in life. Through Rancho, Farhan, and Raju's experiences, the film teaches us valuable lessons about the pursuit of happiness, self-discovery, and the transformative power of education.
